About Your Host:
Christina Lemmey is the mother of 2 girls, ages 11 and 6, and their school experiences have formed the basis for this podcast.
Being a stay-at-home mother for the last 11 years has allowed Christina to become a very active volunteer in both preschool and elementary school environments. She started off very small, by volunteering at the annual book fair, and currently is the PTA Recording Secretary and Fundraising Coordinator at the elementary school.
“There is a LOT that goes on in elementary school so I have lots to talk about! I hope this podcast will alleviate any fears moms have about sending their child to school as well as prepare moms of younger children for what lies ahead in the older grades.”
About this Podcast and Blog:
Wonder Years Radio is a weekly podcast that discusses important topics common to the elementary school environment and age group. Parents with children in Kindergarten through 5th grade have a unique responsibility of making the school experience a positive one so their children will feel happy and safe at school. If children learn to love the learning process in elementary school, they can build on that positive experience throughout their school careers.
Created during the summer of 2007, Wonder Years Radio began as a learning project about how to produce a podcast. With the encouragement of other podcasters and listeners, Wonder Years Radio continues to evolve as a polished and original internet radio show. Topics of discussion have ranged from students with ADD, food allergy safety, bullying prevention and parental volunteerism, just to name a few.
Podcasts and blogs often go hand-in-hand. Rather than recording multiple shows a week for listeners to download, the Wonder Years Radio blog allows the host to discuss more topics, share resources, and also tell about personal experiences. If a particular article is important to a parent, it can easily be printed or saved for future reference.
Blogging simply allows you, the reader and listener, easy access to more pertinent information!
