OK…I must admit that I DO get excited about things I love, which is why I’m telling everyone I know and every mom who surfs the internet about the Getting Out of the SuperMom Trap report.
Aurelia Williams is my friend and past guest on the Wonder Years Radio podcast but she is also a fantastic life coach. She’s tells it like it is to those of us over-worked moms who find ourselves run down and sick because we have too much to do. But she never blames us for accepting too much; she simply knows what it’s like to be a busy mom and suggests lots of easy ways to get out of this “trap”.
I definitely signed up for too much this school year. I always wanted to be busy and involved with the school but now I find myself just skating by, doing everything but not doing it well. In addition to being a wife and mother, I’m the PTA Secretary, fundraising chairperson, reading mom for my daughter’s kindergarten class, substitute teacher at her old preschool, Girl Scout leader, podcaster, AND virtual assistant. Phew! I’m definitely in “the trap”!
And just slap one of those “Mom’s Taxicab” stickers for the back of my car with all the dance classes my girls take each week! Yes, I have a problem saying ‘NO’ when asked to help out.
One of the other things I loved about this report is that Aurelia featured several real stories from overworked moms (me included!) and gave us each advice to tackle our various problems. It was reassuring to know other moms fall into this trap as well BUT there is also a way out!
Even if you haven’t fallen into this “SuperMom Trap” yet, let me tell you, it’s a very easy thing to do! All of a sudden you have a million things marked on your calendar and people are depending on you. Let me tell you from experience that SOMETHING will give and hopefully it won’t be you or your family.
I know the light at the end of my tunnel will be here in June when school lets out. And now I know exactly what steps to take for next year so I can avoid this “trap” again
Here’s a virtual toast to all of us overworked SuperMoms! Now, go buy your report!
