OK…I must admit that I DO get excited about things I love, which is why I’m telling everyone I know and every mom who surfs the internet about the Getting Out of the SuperMom Trap report.

Aurelia Williams is my friend and past guest on the Wonder Years Radio podcast but she is also a fantastic life coach. She’s tells it like it is to those of us over-worked moms who find ourselves run down and sick because we have too much to do. But she never blames us for accepting too much; she simply knows what it’s like to be a busy mom and suggests lots of easy ways to get out of this “trap”.

Get Out of the SuperMom Trap!I definitely signed up for too much this school year. I always wanted to be busy and involved with the school but now I find myself just skating by, doing everything but not doing it well. In addition to being a wife and mother, I’m the PTA Secretary, fundraising chairperson, reading mom for my daughter’s kindergarten class, substitute teacher at her old preschool, Girl Scout leader, podcaster, AND virtual assistant. Phew! I’m definitely in “the trap”!

And just slap one of those “Mom’s Taxicab” stickers for the back of my car with all the dance classes my girls take each week! Yes, I have a problem saying ‘NO’ when asked to help out.

One of the other things I loved about this report is that Aurelia featured several real stories from overworked moms (me included!) and gave us each advice to tackle our various problems. It was reassuring to know other moms fall into this trap as well BUT there is also a way out!

Even if you haven’t fallen into this “SuperMom Trap” yet, let me tell you, it’s a very easy thing to do! All of a sudden you have a million things marked on your calendar and people are depending on you. Let me tell you from experience that SOMETHING will give and hopefully it won’t be you or your family.

I know the light at the end of my tunnel will be here in June when school lets out. And now I know exactly what steps to take for next year so I can avoid this “trap” again :)

Here’s a virtual toast to all of us overworked SuperMoms! Now, go buy your report!

Supermom’s No Lice Hair and Body Spray Product Review

The idea of having a lice infestation is enough to make you shiver and feel like your skin is crawling with bugs! It is a nasty thought but one that is a reality everyday for some children and families. Prevention is the key to avoiding a lice infestation in your home.

Product Name: Supermom’s No Lice Hair and Body Spray

This all-natural spray is a preventative measure to protect your children and your family against a possible lice infestation. Each of the five natural ingredients is easy to pronounce; there are no unpronouncable words or anything that sounds like a chemical. Rather, it sounds like an herbal tea blend!

The directions for use could not be easier: heavily spray on your child’s hair after showering and then spray more lightly when they leave for school, camp, daycare, slumber parties, etc. Adults can use this as well and there have been reports of this spray repelling fleas from pets, too.

I was concerned about the smell when I first received the product because I simply sniffed the spray part of the bottle and it smelled rather strong and unpleasant. I did not want to spray this on my kids and have a lingering bad scent while they spent their day at school.

I’m happy to say that I was proven wrong on the scent. After spraying their heads lightly, the scent is a nice, mild peppermint smell, which even my picky 10-year-old likes. You are not dousing your children in a perfume-type substance that may offend or bother other students. Rather, it is a mild scent which is enough to repel lice should they find their way onto your child.

Ordering online is very easy, the price of $20 for a 16-oz. bottle is very reasonable and my sample arrived after two days.

Fire Safety Ladder Product Review

National Fire Prevention Week was October 7-13, 2007. While this is a good time to review fire safety with your children, it’s a topic that should not be ignored the rest of the year. Regular fire drills at home and frequent discussions about fire safety will help your child stay calm and know what to do in case of an emergency.

If you live in a multi-level home, planning an escape from the top floor can be tricky, especially if you don’t have a ledge or porch roof to step onto from an upper window. Fire safety ladders are the perfect tool to escape unharmed in case of a fire.

Fire Safety LadderProduct Name: Four-Story Fire Escape Ladder by Dial Safety Ladder

Description: It’s something we never want to think about. If you already have a safety ladder tall enough for anywhere in your home than you don’t have to.  If you are one of the millions of Americans without a means of escape for them and their children in the case of a fire, you need to think about it right now.  This four-story tall escape ladder is acclaimed as the safest fire escape ladder in existence. It was designed by a firefighter so you know safety is the #1 priority that went into the design of this product.

Review: Every day, poorly conceived fire ladders are made with chains, which can get tangled, and be hard to operate. This ladder by Dial Ladders is different as it unfolds instantly, with no tangles or awkwardness. Those seconds matter so much you cannot afford to lose even 1 person to poor designs. Easily hooking handles connect instantly to the windowsill and with a simple pull of a velcro release your ladder is ready to help you escape. Unlike chain ladders, coming down is much safer on this Dial ladder product, which becomes rigid like stairs as you place weight on it. The steps have glowing anti-skid material on each with long standoffs extending out to keep the ladder stable using your homes wall and give you plenty of foot room to safely maneuver down.

Made of lightweight but very strong aluminum and plastics, this item will hold up over time and is light enough for a child to use. Extending to a length of 32′and holding up to 600 lbs, this ladder will get the whole family down quickly and safely. The item can be folded small enough to store in a closet or under a bed. Finally, the $199.99 price tag seems just about right for an item, which gives your family the best chance of surviving a possible catastrophe unscathed.
