This is an age-old question that no doubt has been asked since kids started going to school. This topic has the ability to divide teachers, parents and administrators into dueling corners, each with valid points to argue.
My guest this week is Sara Bennett from www.StopHomework.com and co-author of the book The Case Against Homework. Sara explains how little research has been done by educators to determine if homework actually helps or hinders our children’s abilities or desire to learn. She also shares how homework can cause turmoil in a family and how it can be detrimental to the student.
My interview with Sara is enlightening because I always thought that homework was a rite of passage for a student, something that was just to be expected at each grade level. If you have a student who is struggling with hours of homework each night, listen to Sara’s advice for speaking to the teacher about the issue and how to calm your house if homework is a major cause of stress.
Feel free to leave your homework stories below, both good and bad!

Another great full of info I didn’t know show! I was really surprised to learn that homework isn’t a requirement - just something the teachers & schools make you think it is. My son is only in 3rd grade and I’m amazed at the amount of homework he gets!
Very informative post and I like the audio addition to this as well. Congrats!
