Organizing School Papers - Show #22
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. That way you'll never miss a word! Thanks for visiting!
If you are inundated with paperwork from your child’s school - either graded schoolwork or school meeting notices - listen in this week as we tackle the clutter.
My guest is Cara Mirabella from www.TheHouseholdHelper.com and she has some new ideas for what to do with all those papers. There’s no need to save every scrap of paper that comes home and chances are you won’t have room in your home to save every art project.
While many of these things will have sentimental value, it’s important to keep the pile at a manageable level and purge it on a regular basis. Getting the kids involved in deciding what stays and what goes will give them some responsibility and will help them share with others.
Cara also mentioned www.Zwaggle.com as a place to donate or exchange your used children’s items in exchange for other items you may need. There is no charge for joining and you “buy” an item with an accumulation of points. You even have the option of picking up the item in person or having it shipped to you.
I also adore my family calendar and would be lost without it. I’ve got the Mom’s Family Calendar with the silly animals and there’s so much room for all of our activities.

Now THAT’s what I needed to hear! We have a breakfast bar in the kitchen/dining area that stays out of control year round. I’m looking forward to getting the space back! Great show as usual!

Just to piggy back on theme of tackling the homework dilemma, something that really works for me is having a sort of “homework supply box”.
I use a 14 by 8 by 4 clear plastic box with an attached lid that I got from the $tore that contains pens, pencils, markers, crayons, scissors, glue, ruler, calculator, & hole punch.
No only does it cut down the excuses for getting up, but it also makes for quick & easy clean up.
