I ran across an add in Sunday’s coupon section and thought it would be a fantastic way to get your kids involved in giving back to your community.

The Great American Bake Sale is an effort to get communities to raise money to help fight childhood hunger in our nation. All bake sale funds are used to provide after-school and summer meals to kids who might otherwise go hungry.

You must be 18 to register your bake sale but there are links with information about forming a team, creating an online bake sale, or asking restaurants to participate. Overall, an easy way to show your children how to plan a fundraising event to help others.

Official dates for the bake sale are March 1, 2008 through June 30, 2008 but any funds collected outside of those dates will be gladly accepted.
