President’s Day in the US is a day off (or two!) in honor of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, two remarkable presidents who were born just 10 days apart in February.

George Washington was our country’s first President and he was born on February 22, 1732.

Some important historical facts about George Washington:
1. He was elected Commander-In-Chief of the Continental Army in May 1775  and led his army of soldiers during the Revolutionary War.
2. He served as President from 1789-1797.
3. The Democratic and Republican parties began forming at the end of his first Presidential term.
4. He died December 14, 1799.

Abraham Lincoln’s birthday is February 12, 1809 and he was the 16th President of the United States.

Here are some important history facts about Lincoln:
1. He served as President from 1861-1865.
2. He was a member of the Republican Party.
3. On January 1, 1863 he delivered the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared that all slaves were now free.
4. He was killed on April 15, 1865 by an actor named John Wilkes Booth.

    These are great! Isaac just ran through the Comics and read the Mini-Page and it is all about Presidents Day.
