Geesh…in my haste to post this week’s show I forgot to list the resources I mentioned. One of these days I’ll get the hang of this!
www.pta.cmarket.com - National PTA online auction ends on Monday, December 3rd
www.mom2momlounge.com - My interview to help Barbara win some awesome chocolates from www.MomsTalkRadio.com. Deadline to enter contest is Friday, November 30th
Positive Discipline by Jane Nelsen, Ed.D. “The classic guide for parents and teachers to help children develop self-discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and problem-solving skills.”
Our 7th episode about Responsive Classroom.
These next resources were not mentioned on the show but are ones that I have found helpful:
www.scholastic.com/parenting - Wonderful website with very interesting articles for parents with school-age children. You can also sign up for age-appropriate email newsletters.
Take the Fight Out of Food by Donna Fish, M.S., L.C.S.W. “How to prevent and solve your child’s eating problems.” Easy to read book with lots of sensible advice and tips to help your children try new foods and learn healthy eating habits.
Peaceful Parents, Peaceful Kids by Naomi Drew “Practical ways to create a calm and happy home.” Rather than having a screaming match with your child, learn ways to calmly speak to each other and resolve conflicts while instilling self-esteem in your child.
Motivated Minds: Raising Children to Love Learning by Deborah Stipek, Ph.D., and Kathy Seal This is a great book for parents whose children have declared their boredom with school. Learn how to engage your child in the world around them and stimulate their desire to learn more.
