Every student deserves the opportunity to learn in a safe environment that challenges their thinking and pushes them to excel. Unfortunately, this enviornment is not always available to a child, whether it be because of large class size, bullies in the classroom, or a burnt out teacher.
My guest this week is Sadie Fischesser from Responsive Classroom. We discuss the principles of a responsive classroom, how this type of classroom differs from the “typical” classroom and how these practices ultimately help the students to perform better. In short, children in a responsive classroom learn how to be respectful of their classmates, they feel part of the classroom community, and they are comfortable to voice their opinions and participate in class.
Also mentioned in the show was:
National Fire Prevention Week, October 7-13
Keep your family safe by practicing a family fire drill at home. For more fire safety info, please visit www.nfpa.org
National Teen Driver Safety Week, October 15-20
If you have teens in your house, listen to a great show about keeping your teen drivers safe at www.ParentingMyTeen.com
National School Bus Safety Week, October 22-26
Adults as well as kids need to know the rules of bus safety. If you have seat belts on your school busses, please encourage your child to use them. Did you know that even though the bus driver is responsible for your child, the drivers cannot enforce whether or not the children use the seatbelts?

I like the sounds of the responsive classroom! Definitely a positive impact in the lives of not only children but teachers as well. I agree with you - all schools should have to implement the program
