What’s for Lunch in Your School? - Show #29
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. That way you'll never miss a word! Thanks for visiting!
Do your children buy lunch at school? What do you think of the choices on the monthly lunch menus?
This week I’m comparing school lunch notes with my friend Chele Neisler, the host of Moms Love Shopping. We are both tired and confused by the conflicting information we keep getting from the “experts.” Our nation’s kids are getting fatter by the day and yet the choices offered to them by the schools are very high fat and not the least bit nutritious.
This is only Part 1 of this series. Join me next week for an interview with an expert, a chef, who completely revamped her district’s school lunch program, which now serves homemade and ORGANIC meals!!

I’m currently listening to this podcast and what you both say rings true. It was something that was exactly the same in the UK. Then Jamie Oliver stepped in.

He caused a bit of a ruckus- to put it mildly with the government and school meals system.
Very interesting results.
It is possible to have change but it takes universal effort and committment- something that is v hard in a mixed school community.
I so hope I can send in lunches with my child once he gets to this stage. Having watched kids when teaching and had to teach them afterwards these poor kids just don’t have the skills to choose with peer pressure. It’s too hard for most of them. I hope you can get some change in your schools.
Love your podcasts even though we’re not there yet !
